08/07/2008 By popular demand I've re-loaded my web site. This is the original information from 2 or 3 years ago and so is out of date. Hopefully when I get time I will update the gedcom files with the latest information, and improve the layout (looks very dated!)
Ive set up this site to collect and display anything Cassinelli. If you are a Cassinelli and wish to either have a page on this site or a link added please e-mail me and I will add the information.
The main interest of this site is to allow other members of the Cassinelli family to see my research into the ancestory. This includes some of the more useful sites Ive visited and information Ive gained from them, most of this information is of a general nature.
My Family Tree starts from the earliest ancestor found so far - Joseph Cassinelli. I have very little information about him apart from the fact that he lived in Genoa, Italy and was a farmer there. Some (or maybe all) of his decendents moved to the United Kingdom between 1841 and 1851. From the 1881 census Ive found that only this family (and decendants thereof) were the only Cassinelli families in this country - although it is probable that other Italians with the name of Cassinelli moved to the UK after this date.
Josephs son, Antonio Cassinelli, is my great-great grandfather who first settled in this country. I dont have any information as to how he travelled to this country or the actual date he arrived. He doesnt appear on the 1841 census but does appear on the 1851 census at the age of 19. He was married twice and fathered 17 children!
